Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Skills

In person or online sessions are offered

DBT Skills are offered to individuals who have difficulty managing their emotions and behaviours.

Individuals who may benefit from DBT are those struggling with self harm, distress, emotional
dysregulation, social difficulties and low self esteem.

DBT can also be very effective for Neurodivergent individuals. Skills are adapted to include sensory
needs and to help with specific difficulties such as Alexithymia, Emotional Dyskinesia and Rigid
thinking.

The main skills taught are: Distress Tolerance, Emotional Regulation, Interpersonal Effectiveness,
Present Focusing and Walking the Middle Path.

All DBT skills aim to:

Reduce any distress and emotional hurt you are experiencing
Positively support you in everyday life
Help you use your ‘Wise’ mind and walk the ‘Middle Path’ by learning to understand there is more
than one way to see a situation and more than one way to solve a problem

At our initial session we will use the time to get to know each other and explore the main areas you
would like support for. We will talk about how the DBT skills are taught and discuss which skills will
be beneficial for you to learn.

Initial Session cost:  £35.00.

After this initial session you can then decide to book further sessions.  Cost £45.00/£60.00 each
session. (45mins/60mins)

Sessions can take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays or Fridays.

DBT skills will require a commitment of a minimum of 8 sessions. These can take place at
consultancy rooms in Biggleswade, online or in your home (subject to catchment area).  Each session
lasts 45 or 60 minutes and sessions usually take place fortnightly.
